ORTHODONTICS
The right teeth in the right place
Personalized and precise orthodontic therapy based on a 3D digital impression
With innovative technological solutions, digital orthodontics allows us to perform more precise and better diagnostics, and with personalized therapy, we achieve the desired results faster than with previous methods. Orto Do has almost completely replaced the classic impression with a digital 3D impression, i.e. scanning the teeth and bite. Based on the scanned model, we digitally plan the patient’s therapy, and with 3D printing we create transparent mobile splints for faster and easier correction of anomalies of the teeth and jaw.
Correct an improper bite with barely noticeable splints
Orto Do is a certified provider of the Invisalign® ALIGNER system, an innovative global brand of transparent and removable personalized aligners suitable for dental and jaw anomalies in children, teenagers, and adult patients. Most orthodontic problems can be solved with this type of therapy. Invisalign therapy is based on gradually correcting the position of the teeth using aligners in stages lasting about a week, so that the teeth reach the desired position and correct bite with small movements. The duration of therapy is individual, and sometimes ends within 6 months. However, what motivates each patient is that the changes are noticeable after just a few weeks.
The Invisalign system is particularly suitable because of its easy removal, which allows patients to eat freely, and to take care of their teeth more easily and hygienically. The second biggest advantage of this type of ALIGNER is the transparent and medically safe material that makes them barely noticeable. The unobtrusive appearance of Invisalign is a great encouragement for patients for whom previous fixed dental solutions presented an aesthetic problem and undermined self-confidence, especially in adulthood.
Classic and proven therapy with metal and aesthetic self-ligating braces
We apply orthodontic therapy with metal and aesthetic self-ligating brackets, better known as fixed braces. Like Invisalign therapy, fixed braces therapy is Most successful in adolescence when teeth are still in the growth period. At that time, the growth of teeth and jaws can be used positively to correct anomalies. After diagnostics and a treatment plan, we place brackets and wires on the teeth, which help the teeth gradually move towards the optimal position within the jaw. Due to all these factors and the degree of anomaly that needs to be corrected, the length of fixed braces therapy is individual for each patient, but the expected duration is about 2 years. Discipline and quality synergy between the patient and the orthodontist are the shortest path to a correct bite and a beautiful smile.
Preventive pre-orthodontic therapy for early detection of the causes of crooked teeth
Myofunctional therapy is primarily used in children using the Myobrace®System appliances. Myobrace is a preventive pre-orthodontic therapy aimed at early detection and resolution of crooked teeth patterns. Bad oral habits in children are noticeable even before the permanent teeth have fully erupted, so with timely therapy we can achieve excellent results, Most often without the need for subsequent braces or tooth extraction. With myofunctional therapy, ideally between the ages of 5 and 15, we stimulate natural tooth growth and jaw development, but we also teach the youngest patients correct oral habits such as proper breathing through the nose or resting the tongue on the upper palate when at rest.
Myobrace therapy consists of wearing a series of mobile trainers for 1 to 2 hours a day and at night, along with performing specific exercises during daytime wear. During this time, the trainer prevents the child from developing bad habits such as thumb sucking or infantile swallowing by strengthening the orofacial muscles. As with any orthodontic therapy, patient cooperation and discipline are of utmost importance, which can sometimes be challenging in children. However, if myofunctional therapy does not achieve optimal results and additional orthodontic treatment with braces is required, it will last significantly shorter than without preventive pre-orthodontic procedures.
Intercept orthodontic problems in toddlers with interceptive therapy
With interceptive therapy in children, we timely identify and, if possible, eliminate developmental problems and conditions that can lead to the later appearance of dental and jaw anomalies. This type of preventive therapy includes all procedures and devices that prevent the development or progression of malocclusion and associated orthodontic problems. The first preventive examination by an orthodontist should be at the age of seven, in the mixed dentition phase. At that age, we help the child stop inappropriate habits such as thumb or lip sucking, mouth breathing and infantile swallowing. We perform the therapy with a Hyrax or hybrid hyrax screw, Myobrace, a slant or some forms of mobile braces.
It’s never too late for a beautiful and healthy smile.
Adult orthodontics is the Most demanding part of orthodontics, because at that age we begin to encounter the lack of individual teeth or their deterioration. Therefore, pre-prosthetic orthodontics is often necessary, which brings the teeth into the optimal position so that subsequent prosthetic procedures give the best results. With pre-prosthetic orthodontics, we create a place for implant placement or reduce the space created by tooth extraction. Teeth wear out over time due to long-term poor function and incorrect bite, so their restoration is also necessary after orthodontics. Adult patients often face diseases of the gums and supporting dental tissue, and in this case, periodontal treatment is also necessary before orthodontics.
Adult orthodontics also includes patients with temporomandibular disorders, or temporomandibular joint disorders. For such patients, detailed diagnostics are extremely important, often with a CBCT scan of the jaw and joints, and patients must wear a stabilization splint before orthodontic therapy. When solving such problems, we also cooperate with specialized physiotherapists who help patients eliminate headaches, tinnitus or poor head position caused by temporomandibular disorders.
Orthodontic help
Mini implants or temporary anchorage units are small screws with a diameter of about 2 mm that are implanted in various parts of the jaw to achieve certain movements or prevent teeth from moving in an unwanted direction. They can often avoid tooth extraction in borderline cases. After orthodontic treatment is completed, the mini implants are removed, as they are no longer needed.
